Brick A Brack Designs

Brick A Brack Designs Welcome You

Hope you enjoy, I will put some of the crafts children have done from camp . Also some of the things I enjoy doing.

A bit about Brick a Brack Designs

For the longest time, I’ve wanted a place where I could showcase my work, create tutorials and even sell some of my creations. While brainstorming with my daughter, Brick a Brack Designs was born.

I find inspiration just about everywhere. This month I could be doing crochet projects and next month it could be bead work or simple crafts. I love to experiment and learn something new along the way.

During the summer months, I love to teach crafts at the cottage to visiting children and parents
. You might even see a showcased project or two made from their crafty hands !!

Ajustable Christening Gown

This beautiful crocheted christening gown is fully adjustable at the collar, sleeves and waist. It comes with a beautiful crochet head piece.

Hand wash only and lie flat to dry
Made in a non-smoking, no pet home

Introducing the Glue Tree !

This is a simple, easy, fun project that can be whipped up in no time and made from GLUE ! If you decide to do this project with young children, please be careful with the hot glue gun.

Material :
Hot Glue Gun
Glue Sticks
Old Cookie Sheet
Spray Oil
Spray Paint or any other decoration

Instructions :
- Spray the Cookie Sheet with oil. (The tree will come off easier after it dries.)
- Start with the trunk of the tree. Then you make the branches to go out.

Important Note :
The trick for making this, is that all the branches have to touch one another, if not, it will go floppy and not stay in position.

- After your Glue Tree dries gently take it off the cookie sheet and wash it with soap and water.
- After a second drying period, you can decorate it however you want. Glitter, Spray Paint.. anything you want !

I started doing that many years ago. I love doing trees. And my glue gun was on, and I was doing some figures with it. Before my eyes the tree came alive. This one was in the garbage since I did not like it...Along came a lady I know from camp, and she could not believe that I had made this. She asked if she could have it , of course I said , since I was throwing it away.
So she brought it home and put some leaves at the bottom of it. She keeps telling me how everyone admires it in her home.

Have Fun and get creative !

Crochet Projects

Dainty Crochet Shoes

This pattern was given to me and came with a mould for the shoes to be starched. This was many years ago, and unfortunately I have since lost the shoe mould. Through the years, I have made quite a few of these, given away as gifts.

- It is made from crochet cotton with a 1.1 needle.
- To starch you can either use a solution of sugar and water or if you prefer, you can purchase a starching liquid from a craft store.

I’m sure you could hold the shape of the shoe by stuffing it or creating a mould of your own.
To request a copy of this pattern, simply leave me a comment with your e-mail and I will send you the instructions.
This would be perfect for wedding favours !

Craft clothes pins

This is all done with clothes pins....really...

It is very simple to do.......also the children at camp and adults have accomplished this.....but it is a step by step project.....

If interested I can send you the step by step. My version.

Here I have stained them .These were special since my husband is the one who made these. He was also intrigued by doing this. So he made many, for neighbors ,friends and even some who did not want any ha..

It is a nice gift to make.

Craft made with beads

Excuse the light on the picture since it was taken at camp as well. I do not have the ability to take good pictures like my daughter does. She is a proffecional photographer. (Read the sides of this blog)

This again done with beads, a butterfly picture. All the beads are glued with white glue. It takes longer to dry, but if you do not like a bead where you put it,it is easier to take out than hot glueing it.

You can put any of the pictures you make into a frame.

If you are interested in doing something like this just post a comment . I will respond to any of them.

Crafts made with beads

This was done with beads .... also from a page in the coloring book......amazing isn't it.......
also done at camp so the children could do about the same. Do not throw away any old necklace and you can also make something of the sort.
It was fun making this one.

Crafts sparkles and beads

This was made out of all sorts of variations of beads or sparklers ( I call them) .
A simple page from a coloring book and away you go. I have children doing this in the summer time , where I have a trailor. I make one to show the children and adults the project of the day .
. I do this all summer long. So you will see many postings of variations of crafts . And it is also one of a kind since no one has ever made one the same yet.
Pictures of children, doing their cafts will come later on, it's under constuction.

Craft old piece of Chicken in the Wood ..

This was made many years ago, it was a piece of what you call Chicken in the Wood. The piece was all dried up and I saw this image in my mind. The little house is made out of berch bark, and we have trees all around. Which is from a tree. Everything was made from the forest , except the waterfalls which was painted in. Imagination goes a long way, and the fun of doing it.
If you would like to know how to make the houses, just post a comment and I will respond to it.
I will take another picture of this one .....since it has many details that you cannot see ...and other crafty objects that are done .

A Rug I made out of old sheets . I proceeded to crochet this one . It didn't take long to do.What takes the longest it to cut the material in strips. This was fun to do.

This is one of a kind .....the panels are Hummingbirds I made this into a quilt. The flowers were made out of small pieces of material cut into circles, and then sewn by hand around the circle , then pull the thread. I then used fabric paint to make the Hummingbirds. , after came the easy part for me crochet . I made a circle and procceeded to do a patern. Not all are the same as you will see as I post them.
This one was my work of love since I love hummingbirds.
